Does polling datasource depend on user logged in?

I have Mango on a windows 7, installed as per instruction and runing in Tomcat. I have registered a datasource (Modbus Serial) and see the data from an end point. However, when I shut down the browser I see that Mango stops polling the datasource. Is this by design?

I need Mango to poll the datasource continously even when there is no browser (user) logged into the system.

Many Thanks.
