UnsatisfiedLinkError?

Hey guys, great looking software.

After installation today I ran up against the comm.jar issue. After moving comm.jar to JAVA_DIR/jre/lib/ext, the error I received while trying to add a data source changed. Here's what I'm getting now:
org.springframework.web.util.NestedServletException: Handler processing failed; nested exception is java.lang.UnsatisfiedLinkError: com.sun.comm.SunrayInfo.isSessionActive()Z
Caused by: java.lang.UnsatisfiedLinkError: com.sun.comm.SunrayInfo.isSessionActive()Z
at com.sun.comm.SunrayInfo.isSessionActive(Native Method)
at com.sun.comm.Portmapping.registerCommPorts(Portmapping.java:155)
at com.sun.comm.Portmapping.refreshPortDatabase(Portmapping.java:100)
at javax.comm.CommPortIdentifier.(CommPortIdentifier.java:138)
at com.serotonin.mango.Common.getCommPorts(Common.java:231)
at com.serotonin.mango.web.mvc.controller.DataSourceEditController.handleRequestInternal(DataSourceEditController.java:71)
at org.springframework.web.servlet.mvc.AbstractController.handleRequest(AbstractController.java:153)
at org.springframework.web.servlet.mvc.SimpleControllerHandlerAdapter.handle(SimpleControllerHandlerAdapter.java:45)
at org.springframework.web.servlet.DispatcherServlet.doDispatch(DispatcherServlet.java:806)
at org.springframework.web.servlet.DispatcherServlet.doService(DispatcherServlet.java:736)
at org.springframework.web.servlet.FrameworkServlet.processRequest(FrameworkServlet.java:396)
at org.springframework.web.servlet.FrameworkServlet.doGet(FrameworkServlet.java:350)
at javax.servlet.http.HttpServlet.service(HttpServlet.java:690)
at javax.servlet.http.HttpServlet.service(HttpServlet.java:803)
at org.apache.catalina.core.ApplicationFilterChain.internalDoFilter(ApplicationFilterChain.java:269)
at org.apache.catalina.core.ApplicationFilterChain.doFilter(ApplicationFilterChain.java:188)
at com.serotonin.mango.web.filter.LoggedInFilter.doFilter(LoggedInFilter.java:62)
at org.apache.catalina.core.ApplicationFilterChain.internalDoFilter(ApplicationFilterChain.java:215)
at org.apache.catalina.core.ApplicationFilterChain.doFilter(ApplicationFilterChain.java:188)
at org.apache.catalina.core.StandardWrapperValve.invoke(StandardWrapperValve.java:210)
at org.apache.catalina.core.StandardContextValve.invoke(StandardContextValve.java:174)
at org.apache.catalina.core.StandardHostValve.invoke(StandardHostValve.java:127)
at org.apache.catalina.valves.ErrorReportValve.invoke(ErrorReportValve.java:117)
at org.apache.catalina.core.StandardEngineValve.invoke(StandardEngineValve.java:108)
at org.apache.catalina.connector.CoyoteAdapter.service(CoyoteAdapter.java:151)
at org.apache.coyote.http11.Http11Processor.process(Http11Processor.java:870)
at org.apache.coyote.http11.Http11BaseProtocol$Http11ConnectionHandler.processConnection(Http11BaseProtocol.java:665)
at org.apache.tomcat.util.net.PoolTcpEndpoint.processSocket(PoolTcpEndpoint.java:528)
at org.apache.tomcat.util.net.LeaderFollowerWorkerThread.runIt(LeaderFollowerWorkerThread.java:81)
at org.apache.tomcat.util.threads.ThreadPool$ControlRunnable.run(ThreadPool.java:685)
at java.lang.Thread.run(Thread.java:619)
OS: linux
Java version: 1.6.0_01-b06
Tomcat version : 5.5.23

It looks like it might still be related to the comm stuff. I'll be using modbus tcp for communication.

Any ideas?

-Ray

Re:UnsatisfiedLinkError?

Hello Ray,

Yes, it sounds as if there is still a problem with the javacomm installation. You may have not installed the lib files for linux, or your java.comm.properties file may have incorrect settings. Try reinstalling javacomm for linux here: http://www.sun.com/download/products.xml?id=43208d3d.

Re:UnsatisfiedLinkError?

Edit: Reading through the faq in the linux release, it appears that JavaComm doesn't actually support linux. There appears to be a workaround at http://wass.homelinux.net/howtos/Comm_How-To.shtml . I'll play around and see if I can get it working.

Re:UnsatisfiedLinkError?

Hi Ray,

You should have downloaded a file called comm3.0_u1_linux.zip. Early versions of javacomm did not support linux, but now it appears they do. I would post the file here, but since i had to log in to get it, i doubt we're allowed to redistribute. If you're having trouble getting the file, let me know.

Re:UnsatisfiedLinkError?

M@,

You're absolutely right, the FAQ they include appears to be a bit dated. I've got it working with the download from sun though. I ended up having to make a symlink from the <jdk>/jre/javax.comm.properties file to the <tomcat>/webapps/ROOT directory for Mango to find it. I'm sure there's a more elegant way of doing that, but for now I'm happy.

Thanks for bearing with me!

-Ray
