I am trying to connect to a Carel IR33 controller. I have the following hardware:

USB-RS485 converter - CVSTDUMOR0
Carel serial adapter - IROPZ48500
Carel IR33 Controller

I have installed the Carel USB drivers and am using Mango 1.11.0.
I have been able to test that the hardware is working OK by using Carel's Comtool software and can connect and change any parameter in the controller.

When I try a Modbus node scan on a Modbus serial data source it doesn't find any nodes nor does the read data or locator test find anything.....Mango just returns "No response from slave 1"

Am I missing something or is this not possible?

Any help greatly appreciated.

I havnt had any luck with IR33, the IR33 is ment to be able to auto detect the protocol type, carel's own protocol or modbus, try modscan http://www.win-tech.com/html/modscan32.htm this was useful when connecting to the PCO3, you can also try carel OPC as a Data source http://ksa.carel.com/carelksa/web/ita/download/download_dett.jsp?path_relativo=/40-connectivity/OPC this will use carel protocol with mango

Thanks for the prompt reply Bryan.
I have tried Modscan, but it also fails to detect the controller.
I downloaded the Carel OPC server but am unable to get it to start and am getting this error:

CAREL OPC Server - 12/09/10 14:09:25 Error 32 returned by the function InitDriverEx at row 10 of the CCT file.

I have changed the driver.ini setting to my com port setting, but I haven't been able to find any hints on what to do to fix this error.

After reading some stuff on the Carel website it looks like it should work with OPC.

Have you had it working with OPC server?

Fixed the error, didn't have the example config files in the same directory as the exe.

OPC server is running and I have been able to check with this client

http://www.dopc.kassl.de/download/opc-freeware/Kassl-dOPCDAClient.zip

It finds the CAREL.OPCServer, but says the interface is not supported.

Mango doesn't detect the OPC server for some reason...

Yes I stumbled upon that page and have got OPC as a data source in Mango. Mango requires a username and password for data source setup, I have used my windows login credentials but with still no server detected by Mango.

Mmmmm...not sure what to try next....
