I have installed Java JDK1.6.0_11 and the Tomcat6.0._14 with what looked like no problems.
When I go to startup Tomcat start.bat the status/page flashes at me with 1 or 2 lines of print and fades out immediately.
Could I have a problem with my port settings?

Try opening a command prompt and running start.bat from that instead of double-clicking. You should then be able to see the error message.

At first I had an environment variable error now Ihave this. Not sure about next step.

C:\Users\Sam Stouffer>c:\tomcat-home\apache-tomcat-6.0.14\bin\start.bat
'c:\tomcat-home\apache-tomcat-6.0.14\bin\start.bat' is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file.

Thanks

Looks as if the bat file doesn't exist. Can you check?

Is there a Cksum program to check the download? When I looked at the file it was not empty. It showed like 1.2k in size. How about as a command line can it be something there? That may be more likely.

Thanks
